I know this post is late to the conversation, and I really hate to even give it any dignity by wasting my time typing this but here I go.
Is there a any parent in the country, a single one that wouldn’t be happy if their child grew up to be the President of the United States? Seriously, would that be something that you’d try to hide when you bumped into someone at the grocery store?
“Heeeeeey there, um how are you? Doing well?
“Yeah, yeah, I’m doing ok. How about you? How’s your son Jimmy what’s he up to?”
“He’s um… he’s good. Good. Good. He’s kind of um, he’s the uh, presi….#$%&…..”
“Sorry, he’s what now? Couldn’t quite make out what you said there.”
“He’s the president OK! THERE I SAID IT. ARE YOU HAPPY?! MY SON IS THE PRESIDENT AND I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!”
Given that the ridiculous scenario above would never happen, I think it’s safe, America, to let the President say a few words to the children of the country. It’s embarrassing how many people would feel safer letting their child hear from an athletic “role model” than the leader of the free world.
