Browser extensions and those who hate them

I don’t really hate browser extensions, just wrote that headline and stuck with it. But I do have an issue with browser extensions which is similar to one that I had with bookmarks which was solved with Delicious. During the course of an average workday I touch at least two computers, minimum. It might be as many as four some days. Each of those machines has two to three browsers on them. As much as I like some of the browser extensions that are available I don’t want to manage each of them, across multiple machines and platforms. What I want is the same user experience each time that I browse the web. I “think” I’m advocating for a web based, web browser, if you will. One that has all of my extensions, plugins, preferences, bookmarks, anything that is customizable I want available to me wether I’m at home, work or on some remote machine in the Andes.

This is another one of those ideas that I’m sure someone is working on and even if not, I can really see something like this coming in the next decade.
