I’ve always thought that this was one o the really weird American traditions: The Annual Pardoning of the Thanksgiving Turkey. What are we trying to say by taking one Turkey out of millions and not killing it, upon executive order? I’m not trying to come of as some left wing-wingnut who hates everything “fun” and “traditional” but more as someone who likes to question why we do and accept the things we do. I think it’s often fear of change. Fear to stand up and say that this is ridiculous. Want to do something symbolic and political for Thanksgiving? How about inviting regular hard working American’s to the White House for dinner. Perhaps those who might not be able to afford a lavish Thanksgiving. That’s just one quick idea. Come up with you’re own.
