One of the less than magical snow related things happened this week in New England. The weather was just perfect for the creation of car roof snow rectangles. What happens is that people who don’t clean the snow off of the roof of their car, usually SUVs since it’s harder to reach the roof and clean it off, end up with snow that packed nicely enough to hold together just until speeds reach about 65mph. What happens then is kind of cool and slightly breath taking, as you watch these giant rectangles release themselves from the roof of vehicles as one giant object, tumble through the air and smash on the ground. The breath taking part comes in when one of them nearly smashes directly into your windshield while you’re cruising in the fast lane.
